Officials have not said whether anyone will face any charges over the altercation, but they said that once the suspect is well enough to speak with them that they will file charges. They aren’t arresting the thief for attempted robbery?

Murphy’s character didn’t illustrate how pathetic the men were, he was healthy and had his legs up under him and resting on his knees so he was taller and looked like a normal person kneeling on a board.
Those guys spending their days on the sidewalk were pretty pathetic looking, and in those years, after all the many millions of men who had served in wars the previous decade, there were plenty of men missing limbs.
The aftermath of the Civil War must have looked pretty grim in that sense.
