John Bolton fears Trump indictment will act as accelerant on his campaign: 'Rocket fuel'. Bolton argued Trump is a 'cancer on the Republican Party' (friendless RINO alert)

Former national security adviser John Bolton argued that the indictment of Donald Trump may ultimately help the former president politically, saying it could be "rocket fuel" that helps him secure the Republican nomination.

"I'm not worried about Alvin Bragg hurting Donald Trump. I'm worried about Alvin Bragg benefiting Donald Trump," Bolton said during a Sunday "Face the Nation" appearance on CBS. "If Trump is acquitted or he gets the case dismissed because it's not legally sufficient… that will be rocket fuel because he can say, ‘I told you this was a political prosecution.’"

Bolton, who served in the Trump administration for just over a year, made the comments just days after a grand jury in New York voted to indict the former president on charges believed to be related to alleged "hush money" payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign.

Trump is scheduled to be arraigned in the case in New York on Tuesday, with Bolton arguing the implications of a conviction or acquittal would be massive.

"I think he does have reason to be concerned about the substance of the case here," Bolton said. "I think while we're all obviously focused on the indictment, that's just the beginning. The real issue here is whether Alvin Bragg gets a conviction at some point in the near term, or whether Trump springs free, because the political implications are vasty different."

If Trump isn't convicted, Bolton said the former president will claim to be vindicated and be able to use that as ammunition on the campaign trail.

...

Bolton, who said he is still considering a run for president himself, argued the right thing for Trump to do would be to step aside and let another candidate carry the torch for the Republican Party in 2024.

“Seriously, who is a more delusional Republican candidate...Bolton, Cheney, or Christie?”

This is the second dufus today to say that President Trump should step aside. The other one was Bush crony Asa Hutchinson.

He wants to make all of USA just like Alabama.

Guy is delusional. I once appreciated his strong stance on national defense, but against his “forever wars/all the time” approach to policy.

John Bolton brought down huge self-destruction upon himself a long time ago, by trying to be a small alpha dog in a room full of big alpha dogs. One by one, the other alpha dogs had to exit the room because all the oxygen was being breathed up by the biggest alpha dog, Donald J. Trump himself.

It is not nice to try to fool a primal force of nature.

I hate to agree with Bolton. This will help Trump win the nomination but will hurt him in the general election…. Which is exactly why the Dems are doing it.

It's funny how you and them Dems think alike.

Hiring Bolton was one of the biggest mistakes Trump ever made. And Bolton prices that every day ever since.

If TRUMP is the cancer;
Bolton must be the cyst.

There will be nothing to chain TRUMP down.
Standing with WTP, he is invincible.

***************

They’re all delusional.

In this order, with #1 being most delusional.

1) Cheney
2) Bolton
3) Christie

These aren’t serious candidates.

The Republican party pretends to give us candidates we choose, while in reality it’s literally a good-ole-boy country club with nothing but assholes that feel entitled because they paid their dues... nepotism... and folks that are bought off by corporate America and a handful of oligarchs (indistinguishable from the Democrats).

Occasionally you get someone the people actually really like i.e. a Trump or Palin.

Those folks get mauled by their own party.

The assholes and this asshole party which sometimes actually has the audacity to claim it’s conservative (You know, “real” conservatives like the McCain’s, Bush’s, Romney’s, McConnell... which define this party) can’t have folks like that get in their way. After all, they paid their dues and it’s their turn.
