I was hearing some strange low booming noises today, not a cloud in the sky, no identifiable source. I'm right next to the Mediterranean, but due East of here is the Jordanian and Syrian borders, so it might have been some echo of the firefight. Only it continued longer than any quick aerial encounter can be expected to.

Probably a series of sonic booms from the fighters to expedite getting into intercept position / backup therefor- depending on how many aircraft were sent the series of booms could easily outlast the length of the engagement itself.

Given that there is nothing about the target maneuvering and they state that there never was a threat, I can't help but wonder if it was some poor bugger who was just trying to defect and chose the wrong flight profile to do so.

Upon further reflection, given the lack of stating that there was maneuvering, and the statement that there was no threat, I’m going to go with unarmed, low-end drone flying too high for its own good.

Could have identified himself when asked to, then. They do ask for ID first, don’t they?
