I knew two fellow soldiers at Bragg were gay but they kept to themselves, did their job and nobody made anything of it. With much alcohol involved a bunch of us decided the Army needed an all gay combat battalion. Reason 1) You always fight harder for the one you love, 2) We wouldn’t lose a whole generation because they aren’t going to breed any way, 3) The enemy across the battlefield always knows who they are fighting and didn’t want lose to a bunch of pansies (well trained, equipped and motivated pansies) and they damn sure didn’t want to get captured.

They didn't come to MY mind, so I had to Googl® them:
Nelson's final words (as related by all three written accounts) were, "Thank God I have done my duty." He is said to have repeated this statement until he became unable to speak.
