Alan Dershowitz tells Charlie Kirk he believes Trump will be convicted—but verdict will be overturned on appeal
Human Events ^ | 04/05/2023 | C.G. Jones

".....Dershowitz went on to suggest that Trump’s case will likely not be dismissed, saying that “I don’t think that if you had the best lawyers in the history of the world, Abraham Lincoln and John Marshall, a New York City judge would dismiss this case because that New York City judge’s life would be over.”....

.....However, he added that the case would “be reversed on appeal,” and it “will never be affirmed all the way up to the Supreme Court.”..."

The reasoning is plausible. New York City is a sick place. Bragg was elected there.

That is a sad, sad, sad statement on the American judicial system.

Just sad.

The New York State Supreme Court?

On what grounds could it be appealed to the US Supreme Court since it is a NY State matter?

IF the first happens, just why on earth would anyone think the second would?

Its why prosecutes overcharge, with Trump being charged with 34 counts. Juries tend to settle and find the person guilty of 1 or 2 counts.

NY is a sick, corrupt place, so yeah, Dersh is probably correct. And it will be fast tracked to the Supremes.

And the whole stinking process will only bolster Trump's re-election chances.

Its a state matter.....that relies on an attempt to bootstrap federal campaign finance laws. Because with just the state laws all they even arguably have is a business records complaint which is a misdemeanor AND the statute of limitations has run out on those claims anyway.

You are making the assumption that Bragg will tie the fraud to federal election law.

He may tie it to NY State election law, or, more likely, he will tie it to NY State income tax violations, specifically taking the payments to Cohen as a business expense on his tax returns for the Donald J Trump Revocable Trust and/or the Trump Organization.

“I don’t think that... a New York City judge would dismiss this case because that New York City judge’s life would be over.”

That's a roundabout way of saying that there's not one honest judge in New York City.

I’m not making an assumption. That’s exactly what he’s done.

He said federal election. That’s what Trump was running in - a federal election, not a state election. Any “crime” the payments for Stormy Daniels would have sought to hide would have to have been for the federal election.

By the way, you realize Hilary wrote off the payments to Cristopher Steele for the Russia Russia Russia hoax as a business expense, right? NY never saw fit to prosecute her for that.

Has anyone considered how this is playing in the Kremlin? There is only way the Uke quagmire ends in a negotiated peace, the election of DJT. When the corrupt DC oligarchs eliminate that possibility with their totalitarian “justice system”, what options are the Russian leadership left with to end the devastating proxy war being waged against them?

And yet again, it baffles the mind as to why Trump would trust him. Is he still part of his legal team?

That's a roundabout way of saying that there's not one honest judge in New York City.

Correct. There are many large cities throughout the United States that are the same way. It's a nauseating feeling to watch this once great country disintegrate into a third world country.

similar situation in DC. i’m sure all the anti-DJT cases pending have been city-shopped, D A - shopped and judge-shopped to insure early success as much as possible. they want the indictments - the smear - knowing that reversals come late and get buried on p. 62.

For reference of how long this could take, the Colorado Masterpiece Cakeshop (gay wedding cake / trans cake) situations have been going on since 2012.

Guilty until proven bankrupt.
