I know this is a political hot potato as they try to get Justice Thomas but the bigger picture is troubling. I don’t care who the person is, party, position, etc., but why can’t they pay for their own vacations, gifts, etc.? I doubt he’s poor, he has a good income, and should live within his means just like most of the rest of us. And that is not a criticism of Justice Thomas, but one against all judges and politicians.
We don’t even know if it’s true. Pro-Publica is a Leftist organization known for lying to achieve political goals and is funded by Leftist donors.
Thomas is actual friends with the billionaire.
Having worked in government and in the legal sphere myself for over twenty years, I will tell you that to be careful of “the appearance of impropriety” is preached to us constantly.
