Why should anyone have honored a promise made under duress? The Minsk accords were little more than a promise to an armed robber that Ukraine would turn over the rest of its country later on.

“Why should anyone have honored a promise made under duress? The Minsk accords were little more than a promise to an armed robber that Ukraine would turn over the rest of its country later on.”

Hence the need for Russia to simply ELIMINATE the Ukraine state. It wasn’t their idea, it wasn’t their terms before the war (Dec. 2022), it wasn’t their terms during the war (March 2023), but it likely now is their ONLY OPTION.

In any case we’ll find out what Russia believes they need to no longer have to worry about the Neocons using Ukraine to threaten Russia.

No, they are supporting Ukraine because they don’t want more Russia on their border and because they enjoy getting to kill a lot of Russians vicariously in a righteous cause.

Russia will be booted out of much of what it now holds, and will go back to its Feb 22 lines. Russia will get the consolation prize of having its annexations of the rump Donbas republics and Crimea recognized. But it will have to sulk about Ukraine for quite a while afterwards.

I knew you were going to post that line of bs that you have posted before. I knew it!!!

Truth hurts huh? All it takes is having relatives in East Ukraine or Crimea to understand this truth

Returning Galicia to Poland would be an important demonstration of goodwill by the Ukraine.

The AP is saying let’s not let Poland and Ukriane outlive their past, live beyond their past rivalries and obtain peaceful cooperation on mutually beneficial terms. That premise also tries to ignore that modern day Poland has also taken in more refugees from Ukriane than any other counrtry in Europe. But, no the AP seems to want to keep old differences as more important than cooperation today.

...Poles and Ukrainians share a history of existential rivalry.

I am not sure what Duda is trying to accomplish. He does not look good posing with a guy in a track suit.

This will not end well.

the massacres of some 100,000 Poles by Ukrainian nationalists during the 1940s”
———-
So, no one wants to say Ukrainian Nationalists are Neo- Nazis. There are many in the Ukies government and military….Bandera statues stand all over Ukraine, as do streets named after the Nazi.

The war cheerleaders support Neo- Nazis and don’t even realize it.

Poland has deliberately sought to forgive and transcend old grievances against Germany, Ukraine, and even Russia for the sake of peace and a better future. Oh well, two out of three ain’t bad.

I know you Russians are obsessed with WWII, but a LOT has changed since then. Only idiots live in the past. Well, like Putin.

I remember when liberals -

were pro-Russian,

anti-war,

against big corporations, and

supported free speech.

[Yes yes. East Europe. Tribalism and revenge for centuries old disputes. Let Europe deal with Europe.]

It’s what neighbors do. The 100 Years War reputedly reduced France’s population by 1/2. Much harder to invade distant countries.

That’s nothing compared to Albania, where family feuds are still a thing.

Name a country in the entire world that didn’t go to war, change borders or wipe out their neighboring people or state.

The more recent ones are the easiest to quote.

We’re doing a pretty good job ourselves in destroying our country because of the liberals focus on the past.

It will break out in a very bloody tribalist based civil war when they think 5he6 have all the cards.

Seizing the military is one of the last Trump cardsm

The is no victory in this war - Victory only comes as a result of real competition. This war was never that from the beginning in 2014 to present. Russia simply went first two years ago before Nato/US....and here it stands today.....just as it always does with Ukraine claiming it's victim-hood when none of this was about Ukraine...or it's people.
