Just 30 minutes after Thursday’s contentious expulsion proceedings in Tennessee ended, more than 100 state and federal Black lawmakers assembled in an emergency Zoom meeting to offer support to their ousted colleagues. The move taken by the Congressional Black Caucus, the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators and the National Black Caucus of State Legislators followed an unprecedented day for the state’s Republican-dominated House of Representatives, whose members voted to unseat Democratic Reps. Justin Pearson and Justin Jones — two of Tennessee’s youngest Black lawmakers. Rep. Gloria Johnson (D), a former teacher who is White, narrowly kept her seat after the resolution to oust her failed by one vote.

Black legislators are largely simpletons, driven by emotion. How else can a legislator believe they can seize the podium at the head of a rioting mob, cheer the mob on, and not get expelled from a deliberative body?

I disagree, the focus at least would have been on expelling Democrats, as opposed to expelling blacks, that makes a huge difference in terms of optics. And like it or not, optics matter.

I’m somewhat conflicted so I won’t go into detail, because I’ve had a couple drinks and a good meal. But I agree with you and disagree at the same time. How’s that for taking a stand? Lol
To be perfectly honest I have not studied it to the degree that I could say whether or not this white female legislator is any less or any more guilty than they are. My assumption, which is probably right is all three of them are equal.
That’s exactly what happened. As usual, it’s turned into a racial thing.
The sad fact is that legislative conservatives and GOP will cave. Mark my words. That in a nutshell is why we are losing.
The two black legislators brought the bullhorns. Supposedly that’s the decider. They clearly should be expelled. The third is debatable. I hope the legislature stands its ground.
