If you are part of a corporate entity, you are no longer a private person who can say things that will not reflect badly on your employer. Any company I ever worked for would have fired me in an instant if I became controversial in any way. The first thing a newspaper or media outlet does is associate you with something. If you’re not a “former Marine,” or an employee of Walmart, then they’ll say, “mother of two” or grandson of a former councilman. This is because they are trying to create some relevance to draw in more clicks. Also, they are trying to spread the blame for whatever you have done to create controversy. News is entertainment and entertainment is a “story” and a story is only a story if it contains conflict.

I never liked Springsteen and his band when I was young and still do not like their awful music or Springsteen now.

The Left has been saying things like van Zandt said for at least a decade, and has been bleeding through in the mockingbird media. This is likening to a tribe beating its spears on shields summoning up the courage to fight.
Rhetorical question for the studio audience: how many have considered the above, and have prepared mentally when 'the charge' occurs?
