Trump may be a shoo-in for the Republican nomination, but I don’t believe that he can win the general election. It would have been better if Trump had not chosen to run again, but his ego would not permit it. And his inability to win the general isn’t because he is a hardline conservative. He is a populist, not a conservative. So we have the worst of both worlds: A conservative doesn’t get the nomination, and a Democrat wins the Presidency.

I think that come election time, if voters think the Democrats have made their personal lives worse then they’ll vote Republican.
I generally agree but due to demographic shifts no Republican of any stripe is likely to ever win again.
