Ron DeSantis heading to DC next week to meet with GOP lawmakers

WASHINGTON (TND) —
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will head to the nation's capital next week to meet with congressional Republicans ahead of his expected announcement to run for president in 2024.
The National Desk (TND) has independently verified that the Republican governor of the Sunshine State will participate in a policy discussion in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, hosted by a nonprofit backing DeSantis as the GOP's next presidential candidate called "And to the Republic."
The event is being put on in partnership with the conservative Heritage Foundation.
Well-known Republican lawmakers such as, Reps. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., Darin LaHood, R-Ill., Thomas Massie, R-Ky., Chip Roy, R-Texas and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah will reportedly be in attendance.
The visit to the nation's capital to talk policy comes amid a bump in GOP primary polling in favor of former President Donald Trump, who has already announced his bid to run for President in 2024.
DeSantis appeared to be gaining steam over Trump at the end of last year and the early part of 2023, but since Trump's indictment by a New York grand jury, the former president's GOP primary polling has started surging again.
According to polling group Morning Consult, Trump is leading DeSantis by 33-points

LaHood?! LaHood?! That name makes Bush look MAGA. He was GIVEN a seat where he could be elected UNOPPOSED in the state Senate.
His father Ray LaHood was OBAMA'S Secretary of Transportation and wanted to spend money on trains to nowhere (If you build it they will come). He also wanted get Americans out of cars. Not just indistingushable from a Democrat, indistinguishable from a hard left Democrat.

I’ve made no secret of favoring DeSantis. Had he been going to meet with Jim Jordan or Rand Paul I would have been impressed. He’s looking like another sellout.
