So if they don’t cave, millions of SS recepiants will scream, including some from this site, when they don’t get their checks. What are they supposed to do?

Why have a debt limit at all if Congress routinely exceeds it after publicly fretting about it’s impact.
IF we had a REAL 2nd Party, instead of junior Democrats, they would pass legislation whereby NO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE is paid, AND GETS NO BACK PAY, if there is a Govt. Shutdown.
Better still would be also including a non-Union RULE for Govt. employees, instead of the money-laundering-dues operation of those Unions, now.
It’s not hard to predict, it’s what they do everytime. Only when their seat is directly at risk will they take any action that is deemed “conservative”.
Democrats are evil and Republicans are cowards. That is why I joined the Constitution Pary. At least their platform accords with the oath I took as a Naval officer.

On August 2, 2019, Trump signed legislation that suspended the debt ceiling until July 2021. MAGA is not synonymous with fiscal conservative.
The problem with being my age (89.5) is that I can remember when, in addition to most citizens being churchgoers, was that an election was like a religious & patriotic event...
Sure, the Democrats were traditionally thieving crooks, but they were patriotic crooks...
I saw two elections, 1948 & 1960, stolen in the middle of the night, but the thieves were Americans (and proud of it) in those days...
By the time 2008, 2012, and 2020 elections happened, the democrat party had ceased to exist (having been subsumed by the american communist party) and the elections were stolen by people who despised America and everything it stood for...
