U.S. intel agencies may change how they monitor social media, chatrooms after missing leaked U.S. documents for weeks

The Biden administration is looking at expanding how it monitors social media sites and chatrooms after U.S. intelligence agencies failed to spot classified Pentagon documents circulating online for weeks, according to a senior administration official and a congressional official briefed on the matter.

The possible change in the intelligence-gathering process is just one potential shift as officials scramble to determine not only how the documents leaked but also how to prevent another damaging incident.

President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin were briefed about the disclosure last week, administration officials say, but the secret documents appeared online in early March on the Discord social media app, according to Bellingcat, the open-source investigative group. Some documents may have appeared as early as January, the group said.

The president and other officials were dismayed when they learned the documents had been online for at least a month.

“Nobody is happy about this,” said the senior administration official.

The administration is now looking at expanding the universe of online sites that intelligence agencies and law enforcement authorities track, the official said.

I don't know know what the big deal is. The documents didn't say anything we already didn't know. Yeah, we know Ukraine is losing.

Maybe they should monitor themselves before monitoring what people say online. Seems like it would be easier.

How did DOD grant such top security clearance to such a low ranking airman?

DOD is in a CYA mode. Congress and the public must hold their feet to the fire. It’s time to re-organize an organization gotten to big, fat, careless and clumsy. They need to be lean and mean!!!

Government: We are really bad at vetting our people and we have created a generation of attention seeking psychopaths.

Also Government: We are going to have to spy on everyone in order to know when know one is believing the lies we are telling them.

Also Government: We are going to have to trample on the rights that our citizens desired that gave Government power.

Also Government: Lets just ignore voter fraud and we can do what ever we want because there are no politicians with any moral authority to stop us.

Also Government: Lets kill and destroy any of the citizens who think we are actually supposed to protect their rights and serve them. (Especially anyone who thinks they can just run for office)

“Never let a crisis go to waste”

Except it wasn’t a crisis. It was a pre-manufactured psyop to give them the excuse to this very thing right here. Anyone else notice the keywords in the official narrative?

Private Club + Guns + God = Threat to National Security.

“Odd. Supposedly, U.S. mil was already monitoring.”

Because it was a joint FBI. CIA and U.S. Military operation on U.S. soil.

They don't need to monitor social media, they need access control for sensitive documents. Assuming the 21 year old had access to them, the question is, Why? How was he able to bring them home, or worse, upload them from a government computer? How widely disseminated are classified docs anyway?

As usual our government blames the nefarious social media and websites because they refuse to clean up their own house or take responsibility for their own stupidity.
