The New York Times has been accused of double standards by its own military correspondent, who noted his colleagues 'worked feverishly' to reveal who was behind the Pentagon leaks - yet would have worked equally intensely to protect his identity if he had leaked the documents to them.
Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old National Guard airman, was named by the paper on Thursday as being behind the leak of the classified files, which he is accused of sharing on the social media platform Discord.
Ninety minutes after Teixeira was identified by the paper, the FBI arrived at Teixeira's home in North Dighton, Massachusetts and arrested him.
His arrest was the culmination of a week-long scramble by the media and the U.S. security services to find him. The charge was led by Bellingcat, the investigative journalism group, and saw The New York Times and Washington Post battle to find more detail about the leaks and the person behind them.

The accused is a scapegoat. This is likely an FBI sting operation against a guy who was set up to leak secret documents as counter espionage. THen the whole thing got out of hand because the documents were altered by “someone” and re.eased as real?
So they fond a techie kid conservative who has been set up as a fake double agent and then they throw the book at him.
I do not believe a single thing the FBI says about the accused ANG techie. I want to know who set up that game room and how many UGs there actually were.UG sounds like a composite character who actually was many people acting as “UG.”Many were UG. including FBI counter espionage agents.

The NYT is bad, but I want to mention one thing.
The investigator who found this guy - Christiaan Triebert - also did the investigation of the Kenosha shooting and after 3 days published his findings showing Kyle Rittenhouse to be innocent.
He is not in line with the crappy mainstream of that paper.
There’s also the possibility that the classied info had been previously sold to Russia, China, etc., by someone who had access to top secret intelligence.
To explain this information being out in the wild, a patsy was needed to deflect the investigation away from the usual suspects.
It’s certainly possible that Teixeira had been profiled as someone who would leak if given the chance.

I agree. If Tex-Mex had given the documents to the NY Times, the NY Times would have called up the FBI, had him arrested, and most likely we’d never had heard about him, much less the content of the documents.
