Two Russians claiming to be former Wagner commanders admit killing children and civilians in Ukraine

Two Russian men who claim to be former Wagner Group commanders have told a human rights activist that they killed children and civilians during their time in Ukraine.

The claims were made in video interviews with Gulagu.net, a human rights organization targeting corruption and torture in Russia.

In the video interviews posted online, former Russian convicts Azamat Uldarov and Alexey Savichev – who were both pardoned by Russian presidential decrees last year, according to Gulagu.net – describe their actions in Ukraine, during Russia’s invasion.

CNN cannot independently verify their claims or identities in the videos but has obtained Russian penal documents showing they were released on presidential pardon in September and August of 2022.

Uldarov, who appears to have been drinking, details how he shot and killed a five- or six-year-old girl.

“(It was) a management decision. I wasn’t allowed to let anyone out alive, because my command was to kill anything in my way,” he said.

According to Gulagu.net, the testimonies were given to founder and Russian dissident Vladimir Osechkin over the span of a week. It said Uldarov and Savichev were in Russia when they spoke.

'Just to survive': Wagner fighters recount the horrors of battle in eastern Ukraine

“I want Russia and other nations to know the truth. I don’t want war and bloodshed. You see I’m holding a cigarette in this hand. I followed orders with this hand and killed children,” Uldarov said, describing his motivation for the interview...

Uldarov said in the eastern Ukrainian cities of Soledar and Bakhmut – which have seen some of the fiercest fighting – Wagner mercenaries “were given the command to annihilate everyone.”

At one point in the interview, Savichev described how they “got the order to execute any men who were 15 years or older.”

Russian project Gulagu net published a video with the confessions of two convicts, ex-commanders of Wagner PMC subdivisions - Azamat Uldarov and ex convict Aleksey Savichev.

They admit to killing Ukrainian children and civilians in Bakhmut and Soledar.

"She's a little kid, 5 or 6 years old. I took a killshot. We were told to let no one out"

A Wagner Group soldier openly acknowledged that they executed Ukrainian teens in Bakhmut and that they do not take prisoners

Of course not.

But, hey, make it a headline.

“CNN cannot independently verify their claims or identities in the videos...”

It would be sorta difficult for them to go over there and verify. At least they admitted it.

It’s called journalism.

Name of street where it happened. Secondary sources. Other witnesses. Graves. Friends of the family. Others in Wagner. School photos of the children. Parents, grandparents, etc.

Zero investigative work.

Cause...it just fits the narrative.

Oh this is low, No proof, but you post this as fact. When people resort to using kids, they lose credibility.

LOL, US reporter Evan Gershkovich was arrested in Russia and charged with being a spy. Russia has a law on the books that if you are convicted of "discrediting" the Russian army you can be sentenced to seven years prison time

US journalist arrested in Moscow meets his lawyers for first time

Evan Gershkovich in good health five days after his arrest on spying charges, according to his editor-in-chief

They live in Russia, are former Russian convicts Azamat Uldarov and Alexey Savichev – and were both pardoned by Russian presidential decrees last year

Propaganda, and more propaganda but to win a war you must make it so uncomfortable on the indigenous population that they turn on their own government. WWII we did the same thing and it was acceptable by leveling whole cities. Do people realize there were women and children involved? Now we fight wars to win the hearts and minds and have not won a war sense we took that stand. War is messy, war is dirty and war is brutal. Make no doubts about it on what needs to be done to win.

Yes, but there is an extreme brutality by Russian soldiers, which dates back to the Second Chechen War where kidnappings, torture and executions were common and never punished.

Not a surprise... Most of them are criminals released from prison to go fight. Putin’s version of the ‘dirty dozen’.

Can you provide some proof? Or do you only believe it because you want to and then insult someone who doesn’t mindlessly agree with what you want to believe.

After all the propaganda out there and posted here on this site daily, you just know with no proof that this is true. CNN is the source. Even CNN admits they cannot verify it. I guess they should have asked you. Wow.

Yes, its kind of hard to verify their claims since the place of executions is still a war-zone and Russia has a law that if you "discredit" the Russian military you can be sentenced to prison.

The Federal Law of 4 March 2022 No.32-FZ (adopted by State Duma on 4 March 2022, approved by Federation Council on 4 March 2022, signed by President of Russia on 4 March 2022) supplemented the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with articles 207.3, 280.3 and 284.2. The article 207.3 provides imprisonment for up to 15 years for a dissemination of unreliable information about Russian Armed Forces and its operations. The article 280.3 provides imprisonment for up to 5 years for a "discrediting" of Russian Armed Forces and its operations, including the calls for prevention of the use of Russian Armed Forces for the interests of the Russian Federation. The article 284.2 provides imprisonment for up to 3 years for a calls to impose sanctions against Russia, Russian citizens or Russian legal entities

That's the entire reason this is propaganda and not news. Propaganda can't ever be verified. I like the way you polish those CNN boots though.
