Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky on Tuesday said he “raised the issue” of F-16 fighter jets during a recent call with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) — another sign that Kyiv is amping up the pressure to secure modern warplanes from the U.S. and Western allies.
In an address to his people, Zelensky said he briefed the U.S. lawmaker on “what is happening now at the front, on our defense needs and capabilities” in Ukraine, which he said includes both F-16s and long-range artillery.
“Together, we make the free world stronger, and every dollar invested in that strength is fully transparent and accountable to our partners,” the Ukrainian leader said, adding that he “invited Mr. Speaker to visit Ukraine.”
Zelensky also extended an invitation to McCarthy during an interview with CNN last month, which he declined. McCarthy’s first trip abroad as the leader of the House will be to Israel.

The Zelenskyites waste everything they get. They don’t bother targeting, instead using vast amounts of ammo—after all, they aren’t paying for any of it, anyway.
It’s just like the difference between hard-earned 1st vs. 2nd generation wealth. The original earners value every dollar, while 2nd generation blows the money.
This madness must end.
I saw a NATO video today that says the US is giving thirty Super Tucano fighters to Ukraine. They’d actually be the newest fighters in the conflict.
I just saw this:
A Problem for Ukraine: Countries Like Brazil Won’t Sell It Arms
If the US is circumventing Brazil (who refuses to arm Ukraine) by buying and reselling Super Tucanos, then Brazil will be more alienated and may stop selling arms to the US
Brazil wants to broker a peace deal instead of arming the corrupt Ukrainians.
“Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky on Tuesday said he “raised the issue” of F-16 fighter jets…”
Where does it stop and our being actively at war start?
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations. In an air-to-surface role, the F-16 can fly more than 500 miles (860 kilometers), deliver its weapons with superior accuracy, defend itself against enemy aircraft, and return to its starting point. An all-weather capability allows it to accurately deliver ordnance during non-visual bombing conditions.
That makes it an attack, not defensive, weapon we cannot trust Zelensky to use properly. This whole thing started with the Ukraine as an attack on their country by an enemy that has been actively at war with them since 2014 and has been at odds with them since the Ukraine bailed on them in 1991.
Ukraine’s fighter pilots fly MiG-29 Fulcrum and Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker jets. Flight International’s 2022 almanac of air forces listed the Ukrainian service as having 43 MiG-29s and 26 Su-27s in its fleet. Both are Russian design and have been in the Ukraine fleet for a while. So they have weapons of this type. They just want a bigger one to compare.
What Zelensky is trying to do is add attack weapons that were designed to handle those the Russians now possess. So at what point is the US becoming part of an attack war which was determined defensive in it’s origin with weapon supplementation designed for attack and will he keep it on their soil? Magic 8 ball says probably not.

No, thanks anyway.
We happen to have more immediate and pressing defense worries at the moment.
This Vet from a war some decades ago would prefer that (since this is a European war that affects Europeans in Europe) that the Europeans supply the Euros and whatever military aid they feel is necessary.
Good Lord. No matter where one stands on the conflict, I would sure hate to be a pilot tooling around in a super Tucano in that environment. That thing was made to orbit over Afghan mountains and participate in an anti-insurgent type war. I think it has two 50 caliber machine guns, And a couple of hard points for rockets or small bombs. But it’s really nothing more than an armed training plane. That would really be almost criminal to put a pilot up in those in this kind of war. But I guess we’ll see, not much seems to shock me anymore. But seriously, those things are slower than the average World War II fighter, and armed much lighter also.
STOP ... just STOP!!!!

Can’t Afghanistan spare a few of theirs or have they already all rusted and fallen apart?
Ukraine has nothing in common with “the Free World”.
Here’s the video I mentioned:
“US Send Dozens EMB-314 A-29 Super Tucano to Ukraine to Replace L-39 Albatros”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArtVc1aSCLo
I believe you. The US bought these from Brazil and has now shipped them to Ukraine.
Brazil refuses to sell the Super Tucanos to Ukraine because it would prefer a peace settlement.
Brazil may cut-off selling any more to the US if they are just going to use them to escalate wars in other countries.
How is helping Ukraine defend itself ‘escalating’ what was already an existential war for Ukraine?
ukraine's existence doesn't matter. Neither does russia's for that matter. Not our monkeys, not our circus.
