OXON HILL, Md.–Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) warned of what he called “The Great Awokening” in light of far-left ideology permeating institutions in the United States, and blasted his fellow Republicans for not responding to the challenge.
Speaking at the Heritage Foundation’s Leadership Summit to commemorate the conservative think tank’s 50th anniversary, Hawley said that “the most pressing [and] the most dangerous” challenge America faces is the one from “the new radical left and the new brand of Marxism that they have embraced.”
He warned that they want to “fundamentally transform American life that seeks to change and overthrow practically every institution that we value: marriage, the family, the very idea of gender. They want to purge Christianity and any kind of Bible influence from our culture.”
Hawley went on to call this leftist challenge “the Great Awokening,” combining the words “woke” and “awakening.” Woke is usually described as something far-left.

“The cultural Marxists are now in power,” he stated. “They run the Democrat Party; they run the Biden administration.”
The GOP always plays by “gentlemans rules”.
The rats approach politics like its a bloodsport
The GOPe approach it like they are playing paddy cakes.
Hence we have the results we have.
The woke will get 7 years their way. They will be horrific years. Then things will get much worse for them.
Jesus is returning, the Kingdom is coming!
Repent while it is still the favorable year of the Lord!
Anyone who believes in the equality of all human groups will eventually have to give way to woke - since it is simply the logical conclusion of the failure compounding failure of the equality program.
Amen! In Jesus’ name!
This whole mess will not end without the Tree of Liberty being well watered. Count on it.
“blasted his fellow Republicans for not responding to the challenge.”
They can’t really respond because too many of them agree with it. Their supporters didn’t realize that the country had gone tranny until it was literally in their muh faces on a beer can. Coming soon: “the conservative case for cannibalism.” The GOPe will be all about. Party motto: “Me too! Just not quite so fast.”
Their awokening is my awokalypse.
Awoke-a-lips more like it.
Personally I think they woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or perhaps the dead.
Republican Leadership = Cowards and Quislings.
Another statement by Hawley noted in this article is:
“The Republican Party for decades now has, in its policies, helped to undermine the very people who I contend to you are the most important bulwark against cultural Marxism today. And I’m talking about working Americans, working-class Americans, middle-class Americans.”
The GOP’s abandonment of its base is something that is often discussed on this site.
Now, is Hawley just making statements that he knows that conservatives want to hear from their political leaders, or is he serious?
I do not disagree with your sentiment.
Just wish to point out that many Russians prolly thought the same in 1915.
Granted, this time its global. I don’t think we have ever been here before.
I think that Hawley is mostly serious. He seems to mean well. I hope they haven’t bought him off in the usual ways.
The gutless DOP has been, and will, be embracing the WOKE...
Romney and Christie and the rest of the Establishment Republicans don’t think we’re in a war - at least not against the Marxists.
Great post.
Agree.
Hawley is spot-on about the problem (Devin Nunes is out there saying some of the same things right now), but I doubt that the GOP is up to the task of defeating the Marxists. For example, if Trump isn't the candidate, then what other GOP pol would have the backbone to deal with this threat? I can't think of any off the top of my head. The problem is that Trump won't be allowed to win, even if he does win (we've already been through this once, and nearly twice). I think Trump will ultimately have to start a new party, and recruit good (and tough) candidates that have no connection to the GOPe.
