This is a few towns over from me. The entire process has turned into a mess.
The general consensus is that there is a lot more to the first guy’s problems than the salutation on his email—but the committee cannot legally discuss it. Clearly, the chair-thing of the search committee did not like him. I would love to have been a fly on the wall of those discussions.
The second candidate pretty much just threw her hands up and said, “No thanks.” Who would want to work in that environment?
The town is a combination of overflows from the LGBTQ city of Northampton—and old Polish farmers. With the Polish farmers selling their land and getting the hell out of there.
In the end, even weirdos want their kids to learn in a good school system. I think the next School Committee elections will see the woke dopes kicked to the curb.
In most communities in MA the rules and curriculum are state based—and generally the schools are pretty good.
In my community there is some woke stuff, but the overwhelming focus is on “reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic. Our kids get out of the system well prepared for college or the trades.
The largest school committee issues are building/renovating schools. If that isn’t on the table, folks don’t pay a ton of attention to the school committees.
I doubt that these clowns will stand for another term. They embarrassed their city and make them a laughing stock.
Thanks for the additional information from a local’s point of view.
