Truth is that Panama was created more by fiat than was Ukraine.
Yet, I dare say, we would send troops more quickly and eagerly to defend Panama. Why? Because our national interests are there … just like they are with Taiwan.
American force + threat of force + threat of a coup or a real coup against the local government = America gets its way.
Repeated over and over in the last 100 years.
