“A government debt default would be catastrophic for the US economy, sparking mass unemployment, payment failures, and interest rates rising “into perpetuity,””

What does unlimited debt increases do?

And by the way, neat trick. Not getting an increase in your credit card limit is “debt default”?

There are economic problems brewing & percolating throughout the international economic system.
Yellen is trying to get ahead of the curve, while looking for a political scapegoat.

It won’t matter, economic pain is coming regardless of the hot air espoused by Yellen.

Well then, Biden should get whoever is running things to sit down and negotiate.

Massively cut government spending and shutter a vast majority of government so it can no longer be used against Americans. There is a clear choice. Either we shutter government and send lazy ass government employees to the unemployment line or we send hard working Americans that really pay the bills to the unemployment line.

Do you want to reward those that never built a damn thing or those that do? The vast majority of people working for government do not work for the American people. These selfish pieces of chit work for themselves. They are the deep state. They never built a damn thing. They are leaches that get in the way of the productive. They are the real enemy of America.

Cutting spending and shuttering will solve the nation’s financial problems, increase freedom, decrease tyranny and force government scum bags to work in the private sector and actually contribute to society, even if that means they have to learn to say, "Do you want fries with that?"

Modern monetary theory.

Exactly, and it doesn’t work. Neither does Keynesian economics. The two are tied at the hip.

This is why you need to own an AR-15, a postal, and shotgun. Our society is fragile and this will tear it apart.

I say, Republicans should let it fly and let the Democrats spend as much as they want. Congress Republicans should leave Washington and go home to their districts.
There’s no recession, people have plenty of money to spend and there’s not enough hurt out there for people to change their minds about the government giveaways. Republicans will be blamed again and nothing will change. As a long time Freeper, I’m ready for whatever comes. We’ve had years to prepare for the worst. Anyone who complains, gets a repy from me. I say bring it on.

” debt default will likely result in the government failing to make key military and social security payments...”

But will still make payments to the welfare leaches. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Default now, default later.

It does not matter one whit.

The US will never, ever repay its’ debt.

I am 100% in favor of default and re-building an economic system which actively discourages all debt.

Me too.

We're in luck! Such a system is waiting in the wings for this collapse.

NESARA/GESARA meets BRICS+++++...

The banksters that stole $31T/$200+T by debt creation can go pound sand.

The US will never, ever repay its’ debt.

We've ONLY paid interest on it since the beginning, not a plug nickel ever paid in principal.... and never will, as you plainly state.
