Roger Stone: DeSantis won't fight the 'Deep State'
Newsmax ^ | April 26, 2023 | Nicole Wells

Roger Stone, a former campaign adviser to former President Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Wednesday that he voted for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis twice but he doesn't think now is the time for him to launch a presidential bid.

"He was just reelected less than five months ago," Stone told "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE." "The state still has very substantial problems. Recently you had a majority of the congressional delegation, Congressman Gus Bilirakis, Congressman Vern Buchanan, Congressman Byron Donalds, Congressman Matt Gaetz, Carlos Gimenez, Anna Paulina Luna, Brian Mast, Cory Mills, John Rutherford, Greg Steube, Mike Waltz, and now Dan Webster [endorse former President Donald Trump].

"These are the people who worked closely or at least served with Ron DeSantis and therefore they know him. They think, contrary to what his supporters may say, that President Trump is the right man at the right time in that only he has the larger foreign policy experience and, I think, the grit to take on the deep state."

Pointing to Desantis' age (44), Stone said "I don't think it is his time and I do think this new ad by the Trump campaign makes a very good point, which is loyalty in politics matters."

"Ron DeSantis was a long shot," he said. "He was challenging the Florida Republican establishment. It was only the tweeted endorsement by Donald Trump that literally catapulted him to the governor's nomination and then Donald Trump himself had to come here to Florida in the final two weeks of the 2018 campaign to do three rallies to help drag Ron DeSantis across the finish line. So I really hope that he will wait.

Of course not. Only Trump, RFK & Tulsi will do that. Maybe Hawley & Trump Jr. in the future

Those were absolutely terrible, agreed. Who advised Trump on his appointments? Deep Staters he trusted. Hopefully not in the future.

If you don’t have all 3...the house, the Senate and the White House...you’re beating your head against the wall.

Eric Ciamarella and Alex Vindman, two deep state nebbishes whose jobs were wholly dependant upon holding an active security clearance, which President Trump had unilateral control over as Chief Executive, conspired to invent a scenario out of thin air, using classified information and their access to strictly controlled executive branch communications records, which was then used as a basis for Trump’s first impeachment.

Not only did they both keep their jobs, but they didn’t even lose their security clearances. Vindman briefly lost a juicy follow-on assignment, but I think that was overturned by the deep state. Tell me more about how Trump fought the deep state then and what changed so we can believe he’s going to be fighting the deep state for real in the next administration.

If not for Trump, you people would still be electing open border globalists like Boosh, and you’d still have no idea what deep state was and just how criminally corrupt they are.

Hopefully not in the future.

His endorsement of Ronna Romney-McDaniel tells me that Trump has not learned a thing.

Many of them were not deep state in my mind. Deep state isn’t the same as the political establishment or simply career civil servants. The conspirators at Justice who created the Russia Hoax were Deep State. Barr was establishment rather than Deep State, Pence too. I believe Barr was genuinely concerned about political corruption of Justice. I think Trump failed to take good advice from Barr and Chris Christie in how to handle the Dems and it cost him the White House.

Those generals were out of line. Bolton had his own agenda. Fauci too. Scaramucci was there five minutes. At least Trump didn’t bring the now legendary backstabber Romney in as Sec of State.

Re: 11 - Those are fair statements about President Trump.

The same for Gov. DeSantis and his experience regarding foreign affairs, etc.

The only way this gets resolved is a vigorous Republican Primary season.

Trump was beating his head against a wall his first two years with an all GOP majority in Congress. He got played pure and simple and his own party abandoned him on key issues like Obamacare.
