After going over a lot of sources I'm leaning here: Chuck Schumer had a cow over Carlson airing the bit of tapes that he did and blasted Paul Ryan at Fox. Ryan relayed that to the old man who was already upset about Tucker's continual references to our Creator. Rupert, like WWE's Vince McMahan, remains the true head of his organization despite made-up appearances of stepping aside.

Another wrestling analogy in play here is how most performers have 'Non-Performance' clauses in their contracts so they can't work for competitors for a period of time. It appears that has been laid on Tucker as well.
