Kremlin Guidelines for Media Coverage of Ukrainian Counteroffensive Leaked
The Moscow Times ^ | May 2, 2023 | Staff Report

Posted on 05/02/2023 6:01:41 PM PDT by Timber Rattler

The Kremlin has issued a list of guidelines for Russia’s state media outlets on how to cover Ukraine's impending counteroffensive, the independent news outlet Meduza revealed on Tuesday.

The guidelines, which recommended emphasizing the fact that Ukraine is being armed by NATO while discouraging any suggestion that Kyiv is underprepared, appear aimed at giving Moscow the chance to spin any outcome of the expected counter-attack positively.

"If Ukraine, with the help of weapons from the U.S. and Europe, is successful and occupies some territories, the [Russian] loss will be understandable: the entire West has concentrated huge efforts on the front, but its successes — in comparison to these efforts — are very modest," a source close to the Kremlin told Meduza.

However, if the Ukrainian counteroffensive fails, the Kremlin will be able to boast that the Russian army successfully managed to repel an attack by superior enemy forces, Meduza cited its sources as saying.

The Kremlin has apparently also told state media to avoid mentioning how much of the national budget has been earmarked for the restoration of infrastructure in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, fearing its size could spark public resentment.

(snip)

In addition, the Kremlin has requested that "less fuss” be made over this year’s preparations for May 9, the country’s annual holiday to mark the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

“… The guidelines, which recommended emphasizing the fact that Ukraine is being armed by NATO…”
*****************************************************

My God, the unmitigated gall of the Russians to say something like that. How dare they!

Other than who they favor, they probably look a lot like the White House guidelines for media coverage of the Ukranian conflict.

U.S. state media and Ukraine state media are similar to this.

1/5: what shellacing?

Going back 5 months until now:

New York Times
U.S. and NATO Scramble to Arm Ukraine and Refill Their Own Arsenals

“...Smaller countries have exhausted their potential, another NATO official said, with 20 of its 30 members “pretty tapped out.” ...”

2/5 And according to very recent statements by Zelensky, it’s worse now:

In a recent interview with Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun he declared that “We do not have ammunition. For us the situation in the East is not good.”

3/5 Zelensky’s admission adds credence to what the Washington Post recently reported regarding how poorly Kyiv’s forces are faring in this conflict, especially its “severe ammunition shortages” that one of its sources spoke about.

4/5: Now the BBC along with the New York Times (below) has become pro-Putin, for if you report information like this you must obviously be pro-Putin as several Freepers have claimed.

Ukrainian soldiers admit Russia ‘can’t be defeated with West arms...’ | Report

A shocking admission by Ukrainian troops fighting Russia on the ground has come up. Ukrainian troops on the frontline say that western arms may not be enough to defeat Russia, according to a report by the New York Times. The Ukrainian fighters also expressed their surprise at the amount of artillery, tanks, helicopters, and jets Russia has deployed on the battlefield. The admission comes at a time when Ukraine is already facing embarrassment after its much-hyped spring offensive was delayed.

...

Hindustan Times reports on what the BBC reported:

5/5: Italy sent over junk artillery and Pakistan sent over junk shells.

Yep. We don’t really know for sure if the person who defected is just telling them what they want to hear or not.

2nd, as I said above with all of the info from various news outlets, U.S. State media (CNN and MSNBC) are similar to Russian state media and Ukraine state media who often put out shadows and mirrors.

“May 2nd, the day of tradedgy for Ukraine. May 2nd, 2014, the day this war started.”

Your Russian talking points are wrong, Ivan. Russia first invaded Ukraine at Crimea on February 27, 2014, and annexed Crimea on March 14, 2014. Sounds like the war started prior to your Russia-supplied date of May 2, 2014.

Russia’s formal annexation of Crimea was on March 18, 2014.

Actually:

September 2004: Viktor Yushchenko is poisoned with dioxin, apparently by Russian Ukrainian sympathisers to help give Viktor Yanukovych a freer run at the presidency. VK won without the assist. Russia directly benefited.

April 2010: Polish leader Lech Kaczyński, who had only recently warned Ukraine that they were in line to get the Georgia treatment from Russia, is killed alongside 94 other delegates in a plane “crash”... on the 70th anniversary of a mass murder of Polish officers by the Soviets. Putin likes symmetry.

March 2012: EU and Ukraine discuss the potential for a free trade area.

July 2012: The Rada ratifies the agreement on a free trade zone with the CIS.

October 2012: Russian opposition politician Leonid Razvozzhayev (receiving asylum in Ukraine) is kidnapped from Kyiv by Russian security forces, and tortured.

2013: a strategic partnership between the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine enjoyed healthy and steady growth. Russia blackmailed Ukraine over the summer to dissuade movement on the EU free trade agreement. Yanukovych and Azarov trigger Euromaidan by caving in to Russian blackmail.

December 2013: Russia egregiously violates the Budapest Memorandum by pitching a toxic deal to a compromised Yanukovych. The deal guarantees Ukrainian default, and a Russian siezure of financial and economic control over Ukraine. Yanukovych violates the Ukrainian constitution by signing the secret deal without even telling prime minister Azarov. (Constitution required a Rada ratification just like the EU, CIS and China deals.)

THE WAR ON UKRAINE BY RUSSIA STARTED LONG BEFORE IT INVADED CRIMEA. They even killed the Polish president because he blew their secret.

The counteroffensive is destined to be as bid a dud as DeSantis's Presidential run.

It's going to be fun watching both fail and you and neocon operatives being exposed for the liars you are.

Bakhmut Endgame | Wagner Reaches Ukraine's FINAL Defensive Line | Bakhmut Front Update 03/05/23

A VIEW FROM THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS

As Mark Wauck summarizes “Ukraine’s professional military knows that the offensive would be suicidal. Ukrainian losses of manpower continue to be extremely heavy—Russia is claiming that Ukraine lost 15,000 men in April. Losses of equipment are reaching catastrophic levels as well, as Russian attacks have heavily targeted assembly areas for munitions and equipment.”

If Zelensky’s cowardice allows America’s foreign policy neocon scum to push Ukraine into a doomed offensive, it will be the most wasted effusion of blood yet in this catastrophic “proxy war.” And it will be the most disgraceful ending possible to the Neocon’s 30 years “forever war” that dropped the United States from a half century illusion of dominant hegemony to an also ran with an obsolete defense establishment and a wrecked economy, all in less than 2 years..

Yes, Russia was behind many dark deeds against Ukraine, but the WAR began with the introduction of Russian and Russian-sponsored military troops to Ukraine in February, 2014.

Now, at least some of Russia’s pre-2014 acts could arguably arise to a casus belli.
