At least 400 women are in the second week of a hunger strike in a high-security prison in Iraq's capital Baghdad, the BBC has learned.
They are in prison for being part of the Islamic State group, after what they say were unfair trials.
The group is said to include foreign nationals from Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Syria, France, Germany and the US.
It is thought about 100 children are also being held at the facility. The Islamic State group, also known as ISIS, waged a brutal campaign to establish a self-declared caliphate - an Islamic nation - across Syria and Iraq, killing and enslaving thousands across a five-year period.

ISIS women are despicable.
They may be foreign nationals, as far as countries go, but the majority of them were born into Muslim families and knew what they were getting into when they left their countries.
I always wonder who cares if prisoners go on hunger strikes. Doesn’t it just mean that the prison saves money on food?
They are Moslems who cares about their lives?
God
Agreed.
but as non Moslem that their cult
teaches can be butchered, enslaved, or
raped at a whim, I reserve my right to self
defense,
There will be hundreds of body bags coming out of that prison. The goverment there doesn’t care about protesters, not an iota.
One thing I have never understood. Who cares if someone or a group of people go on a hunger strike??Let them starve for a while, they will eventually eat when they get good and hungry.
Its ok as long as they aren’t being oppressed by white cops
It’s a bad image for the country just the same. The message gets out that women who are or could be mothers would rather starve than be ruled by the regime and it undercuts the rulers’ authority and what legitimacy they claim to have to rule. Even sullen compliance via applied fear is better than outright rejection in terms of PR and propaganda.
The first bodies coming out of that prison will be a public relations nightmare for that regime. It will really paint them as the bullies that they are!
Indeed the prison saves money on food.
Not me! I’ve had enough of muzzies and their death cult!
