Joe is on the right track on this one. Just should have said “I have a bread truck to watch unload”

He couldn’t be there because he sundowns and the adult diapers he wears would have to be changed more often than he would have access to a changing table.

Crapping his pants like he did with the Pope would not have been regal.

They have to avoid any prolonged appearances.

Otherwise they risk a repeat of the visit with the Pope

Capt poopie-pants can’t have that... again

I can see old Plugs get up to a microphone and say:

“…I remember the time that the Queen wanted to have me knighted…”

No American president has ever attended a British coronation.

There’s only been seven coronations since the Declaration of Independence was signed. And then there was the War of 1812, so the US and England weren’t the best of friends for a number of decades.

It’s not that big a deal, but what’s the real reason Biden won’t go? It’s not because he can’t survive the plane ride, which I think was the first excuse we heard — he just went to Ireland. Maybe it’s because it would require him to spend too much time out of his coffin at one time.

the absence of Americans goes all the way back to American independence.

My family is descended from William Bradford (of the Mayflower), so we’ve been absent a little longer than that, even.

I will continue the family tradition.

Mine goes back at least to the 9th Century in the southwest of England and I have Quaker ancestors who were early American settlers.

I went to the same school as some of my ancestors did... in the seventeenth century!

The constitutional monarchy is as foundational to British moral continuity as the Constitution of the USA is (or should be).

Governments may come and go, fads may come and go, religions may fracture even... but principles that inspire unity need constancy.

This is the only area where I prefer a ceremonial constitutional monarchy to republicanism. Executive presidencies divide countries on political lines. Our type of monarchy reduces the argument to a fairly genial philosophical debate over which option sucks the least.

I’ve no doubt he didn’t attend due to an MSNBC interview. I doubt he knows that no American President has attended a Coronation, a sign of our independence. He’d take pride in changing American tradition, if he knew anything of it.

Last time Joe Biden met Camilla, he ripped out a giant fart.

She is probably still traumatized.

No American should attend the coronation of any “king” or “queen” particularly a King of England. Any and every American in London should be yelling: Remember Crazy George III and Remember Charles I.

Fake, False, POTUS, Democrat, Joe Biden did not attend the crowning of “King Charles” in England today. Biden sent his empty suit wife, Jill instead...who was not noted at all!!! When I think of how the Brits fought and died with us in WWI & WWII...I believe that Biden should have bee.....there no matter what!!! I worked with the Brits and Aussies in Mascat, Oman, and they were terrific work partners for freedom...across the board!!! Shame on Biden and shame on the American voters who supported this empty suit, Joe Biden!!! Go figure!!!

In June of 1953, my earliest memory of seeing a television set (not ours) was watching the reports of the coronation of Elizabeth as Queen of England.

I was four at the time, certainly not worldly, however many of the words from my parents and relatives, and even some comments from the newspersons at the time, still reside in my (quite good) 70+ year-old memory.

And that, my FRiends, is how I view the coronation of Charles. High History, in a fine sense and through an excellent lens.
