Just how bad are things for Fox News? On Thursday, Megyn Kelly shared the shocking data behind the network’s primetime collapse, and it shows that the fall is much steeper than many suspected it would be.
...
At the heart of the matter is the recent firing of Tucker Carlson, once the highest-rated host on cable news. He was unceremoniously dumped for as-yet unconfirmed reasons
...
They’ve lost almost two-thirds of the audience that helps pay their bills. They’re left with about a one-third of their audience. I mean, that’s stunning, and I looked up and down the board at the rest of the primetime, which with all due respect to the daytime, is all anyone gives a **** about over there at Fox News. Primetime pays the bills, period.
They’re all down. I just did a quick caluclation of the 9:00 PM demo, which of course is Hannity, he follows Tucker, is down almost 40%. Down 39%. The 10:00 PM down 24% in the demo, down almost 20% in the total. And I could go on.
...
What these numbers show is that Carlson wasn’t just important within his own time slot. He was also a massive draw for the other shows in primetime, delivering viewers for hosts who don’t have the charisma or talent to sustain large audiences on their own.
...
Carlson was very unique in his ability to command a room. He could light social media ablaze with one ten-minute segment. That was a superpower that didn’t just benefit him personally, but it benefited all of Fox News by raising the network’s profile with the viewers it needs the most. Your grandfather watches Hannity, but the audience for Tucker’s show was decidedly younger, and it’s that demographic that produces the most advertising revenue.

I probably watched upwards of 20 hours a week. Since Tucker left, I watched about 10 minutes of Brian Kilmeade’s pitch on Monday, and have not watched a single minute since.
But, but...Kayleigh McEnany just picked up Tucker’s vacant slot...so all good, right? Right?
(All seriousness aside...I hate to see her get thrown into this mess.)
Even if advertisers boycotted Tucker Carlson, he had that spillover effect and brought higher ratings to shows before and after his slot. Now all the viewers are gone. I guess Murdochs are happy to lose money.
Same same.
Ya. Thanks Megyn Kelly yuck
I for one doubt very seriously the murdochs care about their viewers. Not what they want nor the revenue.
They’re idealists who hate Trump
It’s election season. Tucker brings the truth to viewers. Tge murdochs - not even Americans- cannot have any of tgat going on
Kelly should know this better than anyone, having attacked Trump for her fox employers -these same murdochs- in the first round
Megyn seems to be ‘mellowing’.
I have found myself feeling more dislike for the remaining Fox people. It is odd but true. I’m a little surprised by my reaction.
Good riddance. Haven’t watched since they sided with Biden and election fraud after the 2020 election.
They are rotating people through.
An indication that this was not a “planned” event is the degree to which Fox is flailing about.
But, anyone who thinks Kayleigh is ever going to permanently anchor an hour long show on any network besides Local Access is kiding themselves.
Who has the over/under on when Fox Nation goes the way of CNN+?
Cancelations must be legion.
When is Carlson returning to MSNBC?
Fox has rid themselves of all what were my favorites’ Lou Dobbs, Trish Regan, Eric Bolling, and NOW Tucker!! I turned off Fox after the 2020 call on election night! I can NOW watch Lou Dobbs, Trish Regan, on their podcasts, Eric Bolling has his show on Newsmax!! Newsmax has a GREAT evening lineup LOVE Rob Shmidt!! During the AM I watch Bannon and Charlie Kirk, don’t miss Fox AT ALL, I hope they DIE!!!! WE ALL made them successful and little by little they gave us the middle finger!! I hope Tucker ends up on Newsmax THAT will be the nail in the coffin for Fox!!!
Who cares.
Main stream media is like washington’s uni-party.
Tucker is the one person on any channel who challenged.....everything. He made one think deeply about issues, important issues.
Tucker would be talking about how we, as a society should be dealing with mental illness due to the choking death on the NYC subway. Most folks are talking about the protesters.
Probably about the same time as Michael Savage.
Fox is doing a rotation trying to find a fit. Won’t be easy. Gotta be someone with political gravitas mixed with sardonic humor and guts to use the mix.
Yeah, right. You fire two of your most successful draws, for what? Because you claim they were becoming too independent?
I thought the business was supposed to be about making money. Obviously, Fox news thought the business was about controlling the narrative..., and not in a good way...
Meghan Kelly, Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs (I don’t include Bill O’Reilly because he really was bad news)... would make a hell of a primetime line-up. Hey Sinclair!
“ Tucker brings the truth to viewers “
How do we know what Tuckers ‘truth’ is/was?
Didn’t his personal text messages say that his real opinion of Trump and the ‘big steal’ was quite the OPPOSITE of what he was schpieling for months?
Hannity has lost almost twice the percentage that Laura Ingraham has lost.
Maybe if he didn’t talk over his great guests, and dumped Geraldo, Jenner, Lindsey, and Rove, he’d regain a lot of those lost viewers.
