Little clues: Plywood covering the front door. Portable flood lights on generator trailer. I wonder what goes on in the neighborhood? Looting/shoplifting?
My father was born in Rochester but moved and raised in Scarsdale. What a shame this is.
The problem there, as is the problem all across the country, is that those in charge don't think that things like shoplifting, or prostitution, or even auto theft are that big a deal. Well, it IS a big deal, especially if you are trying to scratch out a living in the area. I would suggest to these small city mayors that climate change, or sanctuary city status should take a major back seat to crime or safety in the streets. Is that too much to ask?
I noticed the 2 glass front doors to the Rite Aid were boarded up with plywood. I wonder if that has something to do with its closing.
The site I got the graphic from also shows crime rates. Worth checking out if you might be moving.

Don't let the plywood blind you from seeing the OBVIOUS racism...
From sikipedia (yeah, I know)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory
In criminology, the broken windows theory states that visible signs of crime, anti-social behavior and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes such as vandalism, loitering, public drinking, jaywalking, and fare evasion help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.
The theory was introduced in a 1982 article by social scientists James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling.[1] It was popularized in the 1990s by New York City police commissioner William Bratton and mayor Rudy Giuliani, whose policing policies were influenced by the theory.
wikipedia that is.
Dat’s da way (uh huh uh huh) dey like it (uh huh uh huh)!
It's shameful that the city has turned its back on businesses.
Take care of crime and you'll see them stay.
If the minority communities don't like the businesses in their area closing, then they need to see to it themselves that crime and the criminal element is appropriately dealt with.
I kind of like sikipedia.
“Somebody has to stand up for what’s right...”
OK, let it start with you. Recruit a bunch of neighbors to take shifts in the store watching for and reporting shoplifters. Help the business have a reason to stay.
And have your meds stolen or some kid get a hold of them?

Americans have become demonstrably dumber and genetically inferior over the last hundred years. This should have been "an integral part" not "an intricate part". So sad what has happened to this once great country.
I was born and raised in Rochester. Growing up in the 50's, we didn't lock our doors at night. I left there in 1973 with my then husband, and two sons. I only returned to visit family, and then their funerals. When my last sibling passed in 2014, my trips to Rochester ceased. I wouldn't go back if they paid me.
We left inner city Rottenchester in 1994. Never looked back... although I still go to Olindo’s on Lyell Ave which is on the Gates border and do some shopping in Henrietta.
We are strongly considering leaving NY altogether with Gov Ratface outlawing gas appliances. Hubby is an HVAC guy and has about 10 yrs before retiring.
SE Alabama is looking better and better.
I should say SW Alabama. We like Biloxi as well.
One of my friends had them delivered all the time via usps They can be delivered by mail or as a delivery and sign for.
Re: 57 - a beautiful city that is controlled by idiots.
Exhibit 1 - The Fast Ferry.
Exhibit 2 - Location of the Soccer Stadium. Awful parking, a sketchy area. But David Gantt had a lot of influence. The stadium should have been built out near Elmgrove - soccer franchises would have had a chance.
