Ukraine will now celebrate “Europe Day” on Russia’s “Victory Day,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Monday.

The Kyiv leader decreed that Ukraine will celebrate Europe Day May 9, the same day Russia celebrates the end of World War II.

“Now, as 80 years ago, Ukraine is fighting against total evil. Now, just like 80 years ago, Ukraine is fighting for the future – its own and that of the whole of Europe, the whole free world. Now, as 80 years ago, we rely on the common strength of free nations and know that together with them we will always be part of a free Europe that will not submit to evil,” Zelensky said in remarks.

Russians have no right to celebrate the Nazi surrender. WWII began as a project of a Russo-German alliance to carve up Eastern Europe.

That Hitler later betrayed them does not remove any of the Russian guilt for starting the war.

You make that almost chant-like emotional post regularly, it must be cathartic for you.

Which is fine if it serves the purpose.

Russians have no right to celebrate the Nazi surrender.
———
The EU has no right. France, Belgium, and most occupied EU countries caved into the Nazi ideology turning over Jews to the Nazis. Notably, the French. My father ( WW2 Infantryman) told me stories of French citizens shooting at them as they made their drive across France into Germany.

Isolated incidents? Maybe, but the French Vichy government worked with the Nazis.

The reason the West won the war, Russia. Russia, then, like today, ground the Nazis into the dirt. Our losses were peanuts compared to the Russian Army losses.

Fact, the Ukies SINCE their “ Independence “ in 1991 was denied entry into the EU and NATO for many reasons. Being the poorest, most corrupted nation in Europe had much to do with it.

Sure taught the Russians that having non-aggression pacts with Nazi's was probably not a great idea.

“Our losses were peanuts compared to the Russian Army losses.”

That doesn’t mean the Russian’s are heroes, it just means that then like now they are bad soldiers. Underarmed peasants sent in human wave attacks.

The average American GI was better equipped, trained, fed, and motivated and took far fewer casualties while liberating far more lands.
