Prop A overwhelmingly defeated in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Proposition A was defeated by a large margin of 28-72 Saturday night.

The measure was the biggest turnout driver this election: more people voted on the contentious proposal than in the San Antonio mayor’s race.

Called the “San Antonio Justice Charter” by supporters, Prop A would have decriminalized marijuana possession and abortion, expanded the city’s expanded cite-and-release program, created a new “justice director” position, and embedded bans on choke holds and no-knock warrants in the city charter.

The cite-and-release expansion proved to be the most controversial element, with opponents arguing it would increase crime. The proposition would have made it largely mandatory for officers to issue citeable offenses whereas they currently have discretion to cite or arrest.

Proposition A, or the "San Antonio Justice Charter," was crushed by referendum over the weekend. The measure was a liberal Democrat dream package, rolled in one, that would have allowed abortion, decriminalized marijuana, and legalized theft up to $750. Good job by the citizens of San Antonio!

It’s scary but San Antonio seems like it might be the most conservative big city in Texas except Ft Worth. Dallas, Austin, Houston, and El Paso are hard as hell blue now.

Would be great to know how this was done. TN voted straight blue on State amendments in the last election.

“It’s scary but San Antonio seems like it might be the most conservative big city in Texas except Ft Worth.”

San Antonio is mainly Hispanic, and Hispanic Americans (the ones who speak English and have legally immigrated, or had ancestors who did the same), are NOT an easy pushover for the Democrats, the way blacks, Jews, and white, single, women are.

In LIBERAL San Antonio, this is pretty amazing!

I lived in Fort Worth for 11 years. It’s not conservative, but not as bad yet as El Paso, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin or Houston. The huge influx of illegals, Californians and those fleeing Dallas isn’t helping.

I have lived in Houston, Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, and Ft. Worth (as well as many smaller cities throughout)(”lived in” means I slept and worked more than six months out of a year in that city).

Houston, Dallas, El Paso, and Austin are 100% GONE!
San Antonio occasionally, but rarely, makes “conservative” decisions.
Ft. Worth rarely, but more often than any other big city, makes “conservative” decisions.

I have proposed to all my State Congress Critters and the Governor to implement an electoral college system in Texas so that these large, Democrat-ran cities do not completely, 100% overrule the vast majority of the rest of the rural state!

“Serves them right for trying pack 10 pounds of sh!t into a 5 pound sack.”

You are right because while some parts of urban SA are totally blue most folks in the bedroom communities are reasonable and tend conservative. Fortunately those folks were motivated to vote. But the communists are not deterred I am sure. They will divide the original 10 pounds into individual turds and attach them individually to future legislation, legislation that cannot be vetoed.

Downtown San Antonio is pretty safe compared to NYC or ChiCongo. Our resident leftists will be working hard to change that.

Btw, isn’t Ft. Worth the fastest growing city in the US?

SAT was/is bulwarked by the area military presence. Still safe and friendly for a large town.

So too is El Paso...they are GONE!

More importantly, have you not seen what the Democrats and WOKE leftists have done to our military? The bulwark is no longer as substantially safe as it used to be.

I agree with you on the “still safe and friendly for a large town”. SAT has surpassed Ft. Worth in this regard, as I remember Ft. Worth in the late 90s you could walk downtown without worry...not so much anymore; however, you can still do that in San Antonio.

It sounds like somebody wanted to turn San Antonio into Mehico Norte but the people said “NO”. Awesome.

Not sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised. They’re building “15 minute cities” all over.

Valid points, I would just say that congress has been more gop since 95, and they have failed to ensure standards in the military as is their role. They bitch and whine, but have failed.
