You know, while I tend to agree, the truth is I have said that so many times since 2015, and I've been proven wrong, every single time.
If it turns into an Orwellian Hate Trump Festival I think that will help him. It will highlight the unreasonable mindless hate the political establishment has for him. Such a display will be publicly undermining for them but empowering for Trump. The smartest thing the establishment can do is act & appear reasonable. Can they do it?
The smartest thing Trump can do is also appear reasonable & unflappable no matter what they do. Dispel the madman Trump image the suburban Karens, Chips and soccer moms have of him. Can he do it?
If both sides appear reasonable etc it will be a draw & boring. Does anyone think that will happen?
