EL PASO, Texas — Migrants seeking shelter on the streets of El Paso near Sacred Heart Church woke up to a letter from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol asking them to turn themselves in for processing.
The letter, written in Spanish with no government logos, spread fear and panic amongst the migrants sleeping on the streets of El Paso.
Advertisement Throughout the day, migrants started slowly clearing the streets near Sacred Heart Church. Volunteers are still arriving to pass out water and food during the hot May days of the Borderland.
"It's just a human impulse. Anybody who isn't moved by this needs psychological help," said Juan Ortiz, a volunteer passing out water to migrants.
"There are people who have died here who are immigrants, children, everything. This is serious. These are serious humanitarian crises. It's no joke," Ortiz said.
Meanwhile, migrants are getting anxious to follow through with the flyer that was distributed to them.
"Some officials here started handing them out while we were sleeping. Simply without molesting us, saying anything, talking, or explaining. Just handing out this flyer," said Jorge Luis, a migrant from Venezuela.
Luis spent the day in fear, not knowing what he would do — even enlisting the help of a reporter and the priest at the church. Eventually, he had the courage to make the journey to the CBP Processing Center.

Seems this is being distributed wholesale to all the wetbacks, and they’re in a panic over it. Y-you mean sneaking into another country is a bad thing? It’s against the laws of that country?! Who knew! Help! Mommy!

Yes, if they were true migrants, they would be heading back south right now due to Biden’s stagnant economy.
They used to call them ‘migrant workers’. I guess they gave up on that pretense.
Why not turn themselves in? Nothing bad will happen and they will sign them up for benefits.
