“Even the New York Times admitted this is the strongest legislation against illegal immigration anywhere in the country,” DeSantis said during the press conference, explaining that the bill “makes Florida the largest state in the country to do full E-Verify for employment.”

Good. It should be mandatory everywhere along with jail sentences for any employer found employing an illegal.
The devil's in the details however. There are so many intentional hamstrings thrown into the E-verify system that it's almost useless. It's basically designed NOT to work so the illegals can slip through. It's window dressing so they can claim they're doing something while the practice continues to appease the Chamber of Commerce types who want the cheap labor. It needs to be completely revamped to be effective.

Where was Trump on this nationally when he was in office?
Oh that's right, shutting down the economy, giving total immunity to big pharma and do everything his buddy Fauci told him to do

Big pharma was given immunity by the PREP Act long before Trump was president.

It’s easier than moving them to Martha’s Vineyard.

I live in Florida and don’t know the specifics of the bill, it was signed today in Jacksonville, Fl. I’m going strictly on the headlines and poking around with the people who a year ago swore DeSantis could do no wrong and now he’s a RINO sellout.

Didn’t Donald Rumsfeld have something to do with that?

Perhaps, the PREP act was signed into law in 2005.

Not good enough, every Hospital and School should be mandated to use E-Verify for All persons enrolled or in the Public School system and ALL Patients that go to a medical provider, then Codify in the LAW that Federal Employee’s present or working in the State are Financially Liable for all No Match patients or students.

It should be pointed out that our nation’s failure to control the border and immigration is a decades old problem. Illegal immigration is the root of many crimes, problems and expenses. E-verify is one of the added expenses. It adds a procedural cost to businesses. Many American business owners have no intention of hiring illegals, although they will bare the expense of this ‘regulation’. It is LIE that e-verify will stop illegal employment. It is a lie of the same proportion that gun background checks will stop murders.
I’m not faulting DeSantis, but this so-called success needs a caveat explaining the real effectiveness and costs while squarely applying responsibility to those perpetuating and facilitating illegal immigration and all of the associated crime that goes along with illegal immigration.
E-verify is a bandaid for people who just had a leg amputated.

I have not done a payroll in awhile..
I remember my client getting some notices for E-Verify. HE was the only one on payroll.
There was a charge of $30-—But I don’t remember if that was for every inquiry or annually or what.

It is LIE that e-verify will stop illegal employment. So what does E-verify do, exactly?
How do you expect illegal employment to be stopped?

How do you expect illegal employment to be stopped?Close the border, then deport every illegal immigrant in the country. It’s not rocket science.

It’s the cute name given to a toothless law passed by cowardly politicians to not solve a really bad problem. They point to it as a great success as our country swells with illegals everywhere.
