The saying is "one tells it like it is", not "one tells it as one says it".

The evidence for the 2020 Steal is overwhelming. DeSantis and his smallish amount of supporters don't believe there was a steal.

Autocorrect is king now. “Calls it as he sees it” is another idiom, and something like that could have been the one intended.

DeSantis didn’t say there was no steal. He avoided saying that. Nobody knows who really won. If Biden stole enough votes to win, that can’t be definitively proved, and the results aren’t going to be changed now.
