Wives rarely targeted in Mafia attacks, says policing expert
The daughter-in-law of Montreal Mafia member Moreno Gallo was killed in a targeted shooting in the parking lot of her beauty salon on Tuesday, Radio-Canada is reporting.
Multiple sources tell Radio-Canada that a gunman shot Claudia Iacono five times at 4:30 p.m. after waiting for her to enter the parking lot of her beauty salon, Salon Deauville, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.
Montreal police say when they arrived on the scene, they found a woman with gunshot wounds inside her car.
"When the victim was hit by bullets, her vehicle was in motion and collided with a building," said Montreal police spokesperson Const. Sabrina Gauthier...
Hit may have crossed a line.
Iacono was the wife of Anthony Gallo. Anthony's father, Moreno Gallo, was killed in Mexico in 2013.
Iacono was not involved in criminal activities, according to Radio-Canada sources.
Montreal police Chief Fady Dagher told reporters Wednesday morning that the city is still "very safe" despite the shooting taking place in broad daylight.
Although Dagher called the timing of the shooting "concerning," he said "it's not dangerous to be out at all because it was targeted."
"We cannot prevent all the revenge from organized crime," he said.
He added that it is too early to say more about the investigation, but he expects to see some kind of retaliation within the underworld.
Nahhh, couldn’t have happened. Canada has strict gun control and they’ve collected ALL the guns. So nobody has any guns, right Canada?
Must be some kind of mistake.

She was not guilty, but may not have been innocent either.
Being married into a crime family, she probably lived high on the hog during her life, but it came with a price. May she rest in peace.
Why not, just outlaw their guns.
That can happen to some D-I-Ls, in the mafia world or not.
45 caliber divorce.
If her husband was a mobster, how was she not guilty of receiving stolen goods?
The CBC doesn’t have the brightest journalist... Maybe her husband ordered the hit, an angle they failed to consider.
“Hit may have crossed a line”
Doesn’t EVERY murder?
What a dumb thing to say. SMH
Highly unusual. But the old Mafia codes are long gone. Probably still worth looking at the husband, or the wife of anyone she may have been seeing on the side, so to speak. Family members used to be more off limits than “civilians”.
The earliest American anti-aging law, the Sullivan act, was basically a workplace safety law for the mob. The potential targets couldn’t shoot back.
The puke Trudeau will want stricter gun control on Albertans...that’ll show the gangsters he means business.
Looks like a beautiful, classy, elegant Italian woman. Dirty shame. Someone is going to pay.

he said “it’s not dangerous to be out at all because it was targeted.”
Of course unless you are the one targeted.
Bunch of idiots....
There are shotgun weddings, and pistol divorces.
The mafia has taken a page out of the Brazilian divorce manual.
I haz a sad
