The US corruption problem is concentrated at the top of the social system. It’s not the petty corruption that is more obviously visible and noted in surveys, on which these rankings are based.

The Ukraine has an unbelievably corrupt government that has been the recipient of $Hundreds of Billions of taxpayer funds, a percentage of which have made it back into the pockets of Democrat and deep state politicians and their families. The bigger fact is that the US political system is on the take, and they take from everyone. Ukraine isn’t special. Its one small source of grift in a world that’s full of people willing to pay for US government favors.

You are standing on the corner while a gang of criminals is robbing and killing a bus load of senior citizens and you are calling 911 about a car that didn’t come to a complete stop when making a free right.

Dinesh D’Souza makes a $10,000 contribution to a failing political campaign and he gets sent to prison. $Millions from FTX go to Democrat and Deep State politicians and basically nothing happens to the people who fleeced $Billions from the taxpayers and investors. Are the politicians giving the money back? No, sorry!
And yes, the Chinese are the biggest threat to our future. But this has nothing to do with the Shenanigans that have been going on in Ukraine...

This system of corruption is all of a piece, and in this context Ukraine is just one part of a vastly larger whole.
Perspective is a necessary thing.
