Meh. The murder rate was over 1000/year back in the 90s. It’s always been iffy in certain neighborhoods. The thing now is that it is getting iffy almost everywhere in the city.
I would submit to you, that this is not an effect, but the INTENT of the leftists behind this saga.

Yep. It will all be downhill for Pittsburgh from now on. More crime, less policing.
But Pittsburgh does have one particular advantage. Its many hills and rivers tend to isolate some neighborhoods. So folks living in those neighborhoods will have a little reprieve. But only a little.

Yep, the people of this nation are self-sorting as conservatives move to even more conservative areas in red states, and liberals move to more progressive areas of blue states.
Those that say that we have had periods of high crime in our nation in the past are ignoring the fact that then most political leaders from both sides of the aisle worked together to reduce that crime. Or at least then the democrats were not actively agitating for more crime and practically stating it was the criminals’ right to steal, rape, and murder.

Democrat-controlled States and cities are all suffering from past bad financial decisions and increased crime. Their solutions will be to add to those budget woes and implement policies that will only serve to increase crime.
Sounds very much like the used-to-be-semirural area between Tampa and Orlando that I moved to in the mid 1980s. Population has doubled, traffic abounds, housing/rent through the roof (not my problem, but daughter can't find a decent place she can afford on a fulltime salary), numerous ethnic restaurants (one good benefit), but in my neighborhood and in the downtown there is still a small-town feel. How long that will last is up in the air, but daughter is already talking about moving us to either northern KY or around Cleveland TN, and she is not right-wing like her dad or her brother (she isn't leftist either, thank God).
There is less and less rural these days. Pretty soon I-35 all the way from Oklahoma City to San Antonio is going to be one giant Googleplex.
Medium sized cities are also collapsing.

Move to where it will be difficult for the denizens of the cities mentioned to get there easily. I moved to a county that has 1% of an ethnic persuasion and the counties East and West have 1%. The county South of me has no ethnic population. It is only accessed by two lane roads and is quite mountainous and hilly.
My family moved out of south side of Chicago in 1953. Handwriting was on the wall even then. I must say though at the time Chicago public schools were superb and about the only “crime” we worried about were occasional fist fights with Irish or Greek lads. In retrospect compared to current rot, those were truly the good old days!
