L.A. Dodgers apologize, reinvite LGBTQ ‘nun’ group to Pride Night

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reversed course on the controversial decision to disinvite a group of self-described queer and trans “nuns” from being honored at the team’s 10th annual Pride Night.
“After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence … the Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies,” the team said in a statement Monday afternoon after meeting with leaders of the group.

I gave up on 45 years of fandom and didn’t reinstate the Dodgers after they rescinded the invite. I do not regret that especially now. I do regret the soiling of the team that gave us Gil Hodges, Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, Rick Monday, Fernando Valenzuela, Pedro Guerrrero, Duke Snider, Branch Rickey, Orel Hershiser, Reggie Smith, Manny Mota, Tommy Lasorda, Pee Wee Reese, Davey Lopes and too many others to list.

Agreed. I read a story where several New York sports writers, both liberal and conservative, dined together. One of them suggested that each list the three most evil men to walk the earth. The only name to make every writer's list was Waletr O'Malley.

How difficult is it for a team (or a company) to issue a simple statement saying, “We don’t get involved in politics. We play baseball.” (or make beer, or make cars, or whatever)?
98 percent of Americans would appreciate such a statement, and the other two percent were going to yell and scream whatever you did, anyway.
