Texas and New Mexico should agree to a swap: New Mexico gets El Paso and Hudspeth Counties, while Texas gets Lea, Chaves, Eddy, Roosevelt, Curry, Quay, Harding and Union Counties. The swap would make New Mexico bluer, and Texas redder. The residents of the affected counties would be happier under the new borders.

Yup. If not for the absurd politics we might have retired there.

***Some lawmakers are already preparing to reintroduce bills like the assault weapon ban,***
Anyone remember Clinton’s AW ban? It was a joke! All it did was ban firearms by name. so, after the bill became law, the manufacturers simply changed the name of the rifle.
Banned the flash suppressor,
Banned the bayonet lug (how many bayonettings since 1900?)
Made the collapsible stock solid (just as they originally were)
Replaced the 30 rd magazine with a 10 rd magazine.(There were still millions of 30 rd magazines in public hands.
And the same BOWDLERIZED rifles were still for sale all through the “ban”.

The purpose of the ban is not to stop murders or suicides, or other crimes committed with guns.
The purpose of the ban is to make guns mostly illegal and totally under government control.
That is so guns can be incrementally eliminated over the course of years or decades, such as in England.
The purpose in England, was to make protect the government from the masses.
