Grand Teton amber ale. Love it with a good steak.
Not as cheap as Butt Light, but it is most certainly a superior beer. Other good German beers are Spaten, Hacker-Pschorr, and if you want to go really old-school German (as in, oldest brewery in the world), Weihenstephaner (though it might be difficult to find).
