The author misses the broader curve.

We are transitioning from democracy to ochlocracy.

Oligarchs are just another force manipulating the masses.

We are truly and certainly a lawless society.

Scott is very, very Christian. I’d have thought that’d scare off the oligarchs. Will probably be extremely attractive to Christian African-Americans.

“The problem today is that those with money think they have the right to change things to benefit themselves further.”

The very wealthy have always tried to rig the game for their own benefit.

Charities and foundations were one tool they always used—the Rockefellers (one example) were masters at this game.

Republicans have been trying to get the black vote since the days of Richard Nixon.

It has always ended in tears.

“While oligarchs can manipulate the will of the people for some time, the people historically wise up once the abuses become too much to bear.”

Historically our current society is completely unique. We are the fattest, most comfortable and passively entertained people to ever exist. Our poor are the most likely to be obese. Seems to me history indicates people will tolerate pretty much anything as long as they can remain fat, comfortable and entertained while it happens. I think the Oligarchs probably realize this.
