Ukraine shelling continues in Russia's Belgorod as thousands relocated, governor says

Ukrainian forces continued to shell Russia's border region of Belgorod overnight into Sunday after two people were killed the previous night and hundreds of children were evacuated away from the border, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"Overnight, it was quite restless," Gladkov said on the Telegram channel, adding that the Shebekino and Volokonovsky districts had suffered "lots" of damage from the latest shelling.

Gladkov later wrote that fires had broken out in the town of Shebekino after Ukrainian forces shelled a market area in the centre, adding that nobody had been injured. Shebekino is about 7 km (4 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

More than 4,000 people have been relocated to temporary accommodation in the region, Gladkov said.

The reality of the war, which Moscow launched in Ukraine in February 2022, has been increasingly brought to Russia, with intensified shelling on border regions but also air strikes deep inside the country, including last week on Moscow.

Ukraine denied attacking Moscow last week and has also denied that its military is involved in the incursions into Belgorod. It says they are conducted by Russian volunteer fighters.

-snip-

Shebekino, a town of about 40,000, and other places in Belgorod have been attacked repeatedly recently, with Gladkov telling Russian media that his region now lives in "conditions of actual war".

Settlements around Shebekino where there is no electricity.

In most of the settlements, there has been no electricity for 4 days, and in some, it has been more than a week.

Due to the power issues, there is also a lack of water and cellular communication almost everywhere.

I'm sure that the recently press-ganged Ukie cannon fodder appreciates the artillery rounds for their summer-fall-winter-spring Offensive being used on Russian civilians instead of Wangers or opposing Russian soldeirs.

According to plan!!

Not sure this is the right place, but a flanking maneuver by Ukraine mechanized army units through Russian territory and into the flank or rear of Russian Army invaders within Ukraine, would be an interesting approach to the Ukrainian counter offensive. It would avoid some of the mine fields and defensive obstacles that Russia has constructed in the past several months.

Good plan.

Now they need a stronk plan for diesel fuel, air cover and artillery rounds that haven't been expended on civilian targets.

Why can’t Russia just give up Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk, for peace?

It’ll be OK, the Uke Cannon Fodder have been issued plenty of Human Shields, women and children by the Uke Nazi command staff, to put between them and the Russians.

Probably rounding up the ethnic Hungarian women and children in Zakarpattia [Transcarpathia], after press-ganging the men to pour into doomed Bakhmut.

So - it's about the "fun", is it?

I see.

Interesting to note, but keep in mind the Federation of Russia spans 11 time zones. The loss of Belograd would upset nothing but public opinion and cut one of Vlads railroad lines that supplies hundreds of tons of ammo daily to the Donbass. How long they could keep it ( a few weeks, months?) would be interesting.

That said , it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Ukies push into the Belograd area, largely unopposed…..until Vlad pulls the old Bakmut “boiling cauldron” slaughter maneuver.

Meanwhile, Marylinka ( a mini Bakmut) and Avidivka is about rolled up. Marylinka will be credited to Kadyrov’s troops which are back in action.

We shall see.

Fox News deports Tucker Swanson Carlson to Twitter and repossesses his vacation home studio equipment whiles also losing another half their audience at the same time. If that's not fun, I don't know what is.

Our taxpayers money wasted- again. The bright side is our Patriot system is now exposed as being ineffective, Lockheed Martin’s profit from the Patriot missile system sales is undoubtedly going to be reduced.

You need to understand no one lives in 60% of Russia - the conditions are far too harsh unless you enjoy indigenous living.

I think what we are now seeing is that Russia is the 'Worlds Second Army' in Russia.
