To me Golf is only slightly less detestable than soccer.

I wouldn’t say that. Sports reporters old enough to remember multiple upstart leagues, but not curmudgeonly enough to believe only the PGA could be right, were predicting early on that the LIV could work and would either supplant the PGA or force a merger.
