I dunno why you’d expect desantis to say he’d ‘pardon’ trump. It’s an indictment not a conviction. The whole thing could be dropped tomorrow and there’d be nothing left but the headlines. To offer a pardon would imply that desantis thinks there’s some weight to the charges.
I think desantis is right to call out the DOJ for interfering in the election. If they’re going to run against each other, desantis would rather win on the debate stage rather than have the power of the state take out his rival for the nomination. Offering a pardon at this point just seems to give undeserved weight to the democrats assertions.

Why would you pardon someone before there is a guilty verdict? A pardon doesn’t clear one’s name and could be see. as an admission of guilt. If I were Trump I would want a chance at discovery and a chance to clear my name in court. If/when there is a guilty verdict there will be plenty of time for pardons
