Talk about your career-ending moves.
This agent will find himself reassigned to the other side of the country, then on the first day that he reports to his new duty assignment will be informed that his security clearance has been pulled, and he is on suspension.
They've done exactly this to other FBI whistleblower agents.

He should have resigned when he had misgivings.

...the former assistant director...Key word - former.
Top FBI official resigns ahead of Republican-led investigation into bureau
Just weeks after Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee announced an investigation into recent “operations and actions” at the FBI, Steven D’Antuono, the assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office announced his retirement on Dec. 2 in a LinkedIn post.I'll listen to him, but I'm not trusting a word he says at this point in time without corroboration.

“This agent will find himself reassigned to the other side of the country,”
If he’s lucky, he’ll ONLY be reassigned to the other side of the country. In reality, he’ll be reassigned to a dirt nap in a deep hole.
