And THEY barely got through. Btw, thr “right” had as their primary goal removing roe v wade. Mission accomplished, we can only hope from now on this single goal will not be all the right focus’ on.

‘We’ll do better’
Who's "we"?
Better by whose standards?

I like DeSantis, but that’s by far the last thing to criticize Trump for.
He did a great job with Court picks

Thanks for listing all those data for us.

So your point is that likely DeSantis would get to replace the best on the court?

Yes, that could be disaster, but it also means he could at least possibly find some that good.

I really doubt Clarence Thomas will retire at 76-80 years of age...Maybe, but maybe not...

Better than overturning Roe? I don't think so.

No candidate linked with the establishment would ever have appointed enough judges to overturn Roe or let conservative and Christian legal organizations comply the list of judicial candidates for SCOTUS.

Trump produced results while establishment candidates like DeSantis make empty promises.

DeSantis is no better than either Bush, who gave us David Souter, John Roberts and tried stick us with Harriet Miers.

Well, Trump got lucky that he could replace 3 justices in 1 measly term. That is very rare. If not for that, where would they be?

There have been some complaints on Free Republic, that some Freepers think Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett are too liberal. So there you go.

Yes nothing but cheering on Trump's list which he got from the Federalist Society.

I certainly have a different view of the Federalist Society now. Conservatives in general really. Bunch of squishy people.

I suspect that one or more of Trump’s pick will “grow” making the situation more complex, (Kennedy might have voted to overturn had Thomas, Scalia, and two other votes to overturn been there when he had only been on the court a year or two).

Sorry, there is no way Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Coney Barrett measure up to a Scalia, Thomas or Alito. I am extremely happy they overturned Roe, and Gorsuch and ACB have been pretty consistent, but nothing like Thomas. Kavanaugh turned out to be Trump’s Roberts. Saying they don’t measure up to Thomas and Alito doesn’t mean they are like Dems, just that they could be more consistently originalist. No L to take here, he is 100% right.

Gorsuch was a good choice.

I don’t blame Trump for Kavanaugh being only somewhat reliable. He was Justice Kennedy’s choice and Kennedy made Trump promise to appoint Kavanaugh - or he would not retire. Trump couldn’t risk a Democrat president being able to name Justice Kennedy’s replacement.

Amy Coney Barret was the Turtle’s top choice. Honestly, I think she was only OK. She was a huge improvement over RBG but she’s nowhere near as much of a strict constructionist as I would like and she lacked the guts to hear the election fraud cases. If you want to criticize Trump’s Supreme Court choices, this is the only one you really could.

I'll take the guy who's done it before versus Jeb Bush's buddy.

DeSantis does have a point here, these justices have been disappointing at times.

DeSantis would have to first make it past Trump and then prevail in the general election. As fully demonstrated in 2020 the dems are in control of our national elections. So this will be an uphill battle for DeSantis. Of course it will be hard for Trump as well.

DeSantis knows all this but is positioning for 2028 and beyond.

Karl Rove helped to nominate the TRAITOR John Roberts and Harriet Mears.

Does Karl Rove have a horse in this race?
