As soon as Nixon became President, Vietnam became “Nixon’s War”, it was as if LBJ never existed.

Never should have allowed France to have Indochina back after WWII.

And, the communist helped write the very papers he stole, so he pretty much controlled the entire narrative and predetermined conclusion.

But he did it all for the good of the nation and not because he was a communist…

********

Lol

Sorry for laughing Skywise because it isn’t really that funny.
The liberal view of history from 1968-2023 is an amazing phenomenon.

I just wish I had been born in 1951 instead of 1971.

This supports the idea that much of the classified information in the government today is less about keeping important military secrets and more about keeping embarrassing information from becoming public.

And as we are seeing today, classified documents can now be used as leverage by the deep state to continue to operate without oversight.

Yeah, but almost all of it was about what was done under Johnson.

It should be *very* hard to classify anything. With serious penalties if it’s found to not be deserving. And everything declassified within a few years except the names of secret agents and the exact specs of currently deployed weapons.

It should be harder to make something secret than it is to get a building permit in the strictest city or county in America.

If anyone knows where he is to be buried, I’ll take a trip there to piss on his grave.

"The Vietnam War. A war America lost at home and abroad."

Oh do pound sand, twerp - we kicked NVA/VC butt - without any help from you, I would guess.

"Fools were using tactics designed to fight the Imperial Japanese Army or the Wehrmacht. Not the NVA."

Really? What comic book did you get that gem from? Those of us on the ground adapted quite well and killed the VC and NVA without using massed B-17s and M4 Shermans.

Yet another "expert" on our Freerepublic.

“Why is anyone upset that someone let the public know what a DEMOCRAT administration was doing?”

It wasn’t just what Democrat administrations were doing.. it was all Presidents from WWII forward, including 8 years of Eisenhower.

More importantly, the timing of the release (1971) was obviously designed to hurt Nixon’s re-election.

This is one of the reasons that Vietnam won the war.

I’m glad you showed up on this thread.

I’ve always enjoyed your opinions on the Vietnam War and the Watergate takedown of President Nixon.

You wrote,
“The Vietnam War. A war America lost at home and abroad.”
You should have written:
“The Vietnam War. A war America lost at home, and thus abroad.
FYI: In 1970-71 one could drive from Quang Tri in the north to the Ca Mau Peninula in southernmost Vietnam and never take a shot. Yes, it was that peaceful.
