International peace agreements, when signed, are filed in public domain libraries.
Funny how this one that Putin pulled out of his ass went 15 months without any fanfare, wasn’t publicised or published, wasn’t signed, wasn’t acknowledged, and isn’t available in multiple languages.
Russia’s own negotiators told us a completely different story, months ago. They told us that Ukraine had agreed to never join NATO, after they’d agreed to remove the Russian language discriminations and devolve language policy to the Oblasts.
In return Ukraine insisted it reserved the right to have its own defense policy and choose its security allies (which it’s guaranteed under the UN Charter and Budapest Memorandum.) This was conveyed to the Kremlin who then ordered the diplomats to reject the proposal. They reissued the December terms to NATO and NATO quite rightly refused to accept those terms.
This refusal is misrepresented as a refusal to accept a reasonable settlement. If anyone doesn’t understand WHY the Russian demands were unacceptable I simply say go onto the Kremlin site and bloody read it.
Russia’s ultimatum to NATO, issued in December 2021, was published within a week of it being issued and remains visible without any subscription or site login.
Moreover, it’s published in Russian, Ukrainian and English on the Kremlin website.
The Budapest Memorandum, and the Belovezha Accords (aka Minsk 0) that preceded it, and the 1975 Helsinki Accords upon which Belovezha was based, are all in the public domain, available in multiple languages, and the original signed agreements can be viewed without difficulty. Minsk 1 and 2 can also be read at leisure.
Even the drafts of the settlements between the West and the USSR are in the public domain.
So given that we cannot see anything similar for this alleged deal that Ukraine allegedly reneged on, and only Putin seems to have a copy, and seeing as his copy only exists in Russian hardcopy, I would suggest we ask Turkey to show us ITS copy. If Ukraine doesn’t have one and Turkey can’t produce it, Russia has faked it.
Ukraine comes much closer to resembling what the Soviet Union was.
