Oddly, apparently ‘Juneteenth’, which celebrates when whites freed black slaves, is so important that it is not a weekend holiday but rather is always marked on June 19th. Next year it will be ‘celebrated’ on Wednesday.

I find the official name of the holiday, ‘Juneteenth National Independence Day’ a bit troubling. Almost if it’s intended to replace another holiday, at least in some people’s minds.
