New research in a Duke University academic journal confronts a controversial subject within the LGBT community and comes to an equally controversial conclusion: a significant portion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals switch to a “straight” identity.
The landmark research, published in the Duke University Press journal Demography, examined data from the United Kingdom Household Longitudinal Study, which involved interviews with 22,673 people who were interviewed in two waves: first in 2011–2013 and then in 2017–2019.
A total of 8.6 percent of people who identified as gay and lesbian in the first wave changed their identity to heterosexual by the second wave (in other words, roughly six years later).
The switch was even more dramatic within other LGBT categories. Among those who identified as bisexual, 44 percent changed their identity to heterosexual. And among those who identified as “other” – a category that includes transgender individuals – a total of 69.6 percent changed to heterosexual. Even among those who didn’t want to disclose their sexual identity in the first wave, 62.2 percent identified as heterosexual by the second wave.
Only 3.3 percent of those who identified as heterosexual in the first wave changed to a different identity.
Yang Hu of Lancaster University and Nicole Denier of the University of Alberta led the research....
the research “calls into question the linear assumption that sexual identity ‘stabilizes’ over the life course.”
Researcher and demographer Lyman Stone, who was not involved in the study, said the data “pretty much obliterates the notion of immutable sexual identity.” It also, he said, “points to the difficulty in measuring and studying sexual identity.”...

And now we have read that man created gender fluidity, while also putting together what God placed sexually asunder. `
All being a manifestation of the devil seeking power and glory via a world which perverts what God ordained as right and which is to man's good, and harm when perverted.

I pointed out that in nature osmosis and reverse osmosis through semipermeable membranes was easily observed, proven and businesses predicated on this phenomenon. He became irate at the notion that a gay could "convert" away from homosexuality, though there is testimony to that effect easily found and see and heard. The notion that "fluidity" can occur to but not away from anything is an ideological tenet for those whose interest is not in truth outside of themselves but in themselves.

Yeah, but the damage they do by giving our fascist government and corporations another line of perversion to monetize, demoralize and destroy decency with goes on and on long after they’ve decided to go straight.
Did they do a study of their own students and discover how many women identify as “lesbian until graduation”?
This wave of sexual deviants is really nothing more than a pathetic fad. A new form of Munchhausen’s to gain sympathy for their pathetic little lives. Everybody couldn’t have turn homosexual at the same time. This is a fad.
Because sexual attractive is actually just “what I’m in the mood for right now” and not any kind of identity.
They only use “identify” as a means to say “I have to get that thing that I want because that’s they way I am”.
There was something called “Gay until Graduation” back in the 80’s. Young women did not want to be notches on Frat boy’s belt but wanted a social life during College.
I saw the same thing in the Army, especially overseas where the dating pool for young females was shallow outside of Army males, most of which were worse that Frat boys.
The US has a similar research effort, The General Social Survey, which yields similar results. Maybe 10% of respondents report an identity different from the one the year before.
