The nearly universal howls for regulation/safety etc.....did not seem apolitical to me.
Five idiots in a home-made “submarine” built out of a recovered sewer line and outfitted with Home Depot quality gear.
There was only one window, and that was manned by the “captain”. 12,500 feet under, there is no natural light, so hopefully those Eveready flashlights duct taped to the pipe were going to blaze everything up.
Maybe there’d be a leak or two, but nothing to worry about...
Regulation and safety requirements are important enough ...
It is the reason WHY the media suddenly decided to promote this story and to bury a Biden story.
It does not mean that the lives of those lost are worth less, based on how the MSM decides to promote this story over others.
Do you really believe that safety was what all the stories were about? That just gave them an excuse for the sensationalism - “Only x-hours of Oxygen left as help rushes from around the globe...”
“ The nearly universal howls for regulation/safety etc.....did not seem apolitical to me.”
Me either. My head just about exploded, no pun intended, when I walked by a TV in a customer’s home and I saw a taped interview with the deceased Ocean Gate CEO Stockton Rush talking about not hiring experienced 50 year old ex-submariners because they were not “inspirational” and professed the virtues of DEI, in his case and for all practical examples it should be called D-I-E.
Everybody is starting to say the guy was reckless. The Discovery Channel Explorer Filmmaker Josh Gates backed out of filming an episode on that “sub” because he felt it was unsafe for his crew. I will bet, there was a lot of payola handed out to get the so-called government regulators to wink, wink, nod, nod and look the other way concerning safety concerns.
The dude was a insane Washington State huckster and I hope when the civil lawsuits start coming, they can get the bureaucrats here in Washington and elsewhere who helped this fool kill a group of innocents and cost the taxpayers tons of money on a search that they knew was a salvage expedition since last Sunday.
